Komatsuna, or Japanese Mustard, is sometimes called Mustard Spinach, but it’s actually a Brassica. It is related to the turnip, Mizuna, and Napa cabbage.
The taste is said to be somewhere between a wild mustard and cabbage. Sherri believes it has the flavor of mustard greens, but its bite is not quite as “hot” as the Southern Mustard she grew up with.
This flavorful green is great in a stir-fry, soup, or mixed with other greens.
